Outside Our Realm: First Edition

Believe it or not, there isn't always something terribly exciting going on in St. Louis sports. The Cardinals are playing very well, but it's May and it's too early to be A. Excited about it, or B. Worried they're not in first. So for this post I'm going to shift gears to one of my favorite sports, tennis! Today I'm proud to say that our (Westminster Christian Academy) varsity tennis team is going to state! I was blessed to be a part of the team this year. It was a blast.
And on a slightly higher level of tennis the French Open starts Monday! I'll be rooting for Federer as usual. The recent Masters Series tournament in Madrid gave us all hope that he might be able to knock off Nadal this year. *fingers crossed* It would be pretty incredible.

So that concludes our first edition of "Outside Our Realm"

Expect these every couple months or so.

Ready to Give Up

It seems like every week there's another one. One more baseball player either admitting to, or getting caught using steroids, HGH, or just drugs in general. What scares me is hearing radio talk show hosts saying they don't care anymore. WHAT!? How could you say that if you love baseball? What's the matter with you!? Anyway, back to the main issue. I'm scared MLB is starting to have this same mind set. I'll tell you this though, I never will. Cheating is cheating. Period. Unfortunately, Major League Baseball does not seem to agree. What's terribly frustrating is all the hype this A-Rod story got when nothing is EVER gonna happen to him. He won't get suspended, he'll still make the Hall of Fame, he won't receieve a paycut, and he won't be punished anymore than a slap on the wrist.

So I have come to this conclusion. The blame falls on two groups of people. The airheads stupid enough to take these drugs, and the MLB for letting it get this far. This situation could have been handled so much better. Take a look at the NBA and the NHL. There never seems to be a steroid controversy. I'm just worried about when a few Cardinal names start getting thrown around.

I have faith in Albert though.

But only him at this point.
